Hispanic Heritage Essay Contest

Students of French participating in a scavenger hunt.
  • Twenty two students of Spanish at JFK High School elected to participate in the annual Hispanic Heritage Essay Contest, sponsored by the Cablevision Optimum Community.  The 500 word essay topic this year was, "Name a Latino, past or present, with whom you would choose to spend a day, and explain why."  Participants wrote about a wide variety of important people representing the Latino culture.  Contests like this one give our students the opportunity to connect school and community.  Thank you to the teachers for encouraging students to participate.  Special thanks to Ms. Christina Visbal for coordinating our school's entries through the Spanish Honor Society.  All students who participated received a Certificate of Participation.  Congratulations to all who participated!
