Instructions for Parents on Home Schooling

  • Immunization, Public Health Law 2164 has resulted in parents inquiring about home schooling.  If you are intending to home school your child(ren), the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District requires parents to notify us via email of that intention.  Pursuant to Commissioner’s Regulation 100.10 (CR 100.10), parents/guardians are required to complete an Individualized Home Instruction Plan (IHIP) and submit that plan to the District. Please note that New York State Department of Education (NYSED) refers to home schooling as “Home Instruction”.

These are the steps to take if you plan to home instruct your child.  A link to CR 100.10 is provided for your reference.

        1. Notify the District, via email, your intention to home instruct your child(ren).  In the email, please include the name(s) and school(s) your child(ren) attend.  Emails should be sent to despinosa@pobschools.org who is the Director of Pupil Personnel Services.

“Give peace a chance!” This was the theme of our first ever Pathways to Peace Celebration in partnership with the Shanti Fund at POBMS on Friday, October 25th. What better way to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, as well as the beginning of Diwali, than through an evening of fun and peaceful celebration!
