  • The Plainview-Old Bethpage Athletic Hall of Fame

    The Hall of Fame is organized as a means of recognizing, preserving and promoting the heritage of interscholastic sports in the Plainview-Old Bethpage Community. The goal of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Athletic Hall of Fame honors the contributions and accomplishments of these individuals..

    Nominations for the Plainview-Old Bethpage Athletic Hall of Fame are to be made through the approved nominating process.  

    The Official Nomination Form shall be completed and submitted with appropriate support materials to the Plainview-Old Bethpage Athletic Department by the last Friday of September to be considered for the following year’s induction class. 

    Individuals may be nominated in one of three categories:

    Student Athlete - must have graduated from Plainview-Old Bethpage CSD and must be 10 years removed from high school graduation before SA can be nominated.

    Student Athletes - a former high school student athlete whose achievements as a Plainview-Old Bethpage high school student athlete merit recognition. The following criteria will be used when evaluating Student Athlete nominations;

    1. Athletic achievements, records, honors, etc… while attending in the POB school district 

    2. Athletic achievements, records, honors, etc… post graduation (collegiate and professional)

    3. Other accomplishments

    Coaches - a current or former high school coach whose accomplishments as a Plainview-Old Bethpage coach merit recognition. The following criteria will be used when evaluating coaching nominations:

    1. Coaching achievements, records, honors, etc… while coaching in the POB school district

    2. Additional coaching achievements, records, honors, etc… (collegiate and professional)

    3. Other accomplishments (playing experience, teaching exp, etc…)

    Athletic Contributors - an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the Plainview-Old Bethpage  interscholastic athletics merit recognition. The following criteria will be used when evaluating Athletic Contributors nominations:

    1. Career Description, Affiliation and contribution to POB Interscholastic Athletics(areas, jv or middle school coaching experience, length of service, etc.)

    2. Special Honors and Achievements including Involvement in Local, State and National Professional Organizations (Add an additional page if needed). 

    3. Other Information (not previously listed) 

     All nominees:

    1. must exemplify the highest standards of sportsmanship, ethical conduct and moral character.
    2. shall be considered on the merits of contributions and achievements to high school sports; however, success in later life will be included in the decision making process.
    3. shall have significant and/or long-term contributions to interscholastic athletics.  Longevity without significant accomplishments does not constitute appropriate credentials for Hall of Fame consideration.
