Dear Parents/Guardians:

We hope that you had a great summer!  We are excited to embark on the 2023-24 school year.  This year the District will continue the theme Every Student Matters, Every Moment Counts, and we will focus on the importance of building peer-to-peer and student-to-teacher relationships, providing students with opportunities to develop character, leadership and collaborate on activities.

We strive to create a sense of belonging for our community and provide an engaging environment for all of our students.  We will continue to respect each other  and the dignity of all individuals.

We will continue to celebrate the diverse and talented students and hope to nurture and enrich our school environment.  Our common language of PRIDE will serve as a resource in developing confidence and overcoming challenges.  Middle school is the time to identify and meet each student's academic, social-emotional, and physical needs.

Beyond the exceptional academic expectations, we strive to find a renewed purpose in providing students opportunities in personal interest – whether it be something related to technology, art, music, sports, student council or another club – and give their experience a voice.

We encourage communication between and among students, teachers, parents, administrators, and community members.   We look forward to your partnership and contributing to our long-standing tradition of excellence as well as providing our students with various opportunities.  Although the middle school years present developmental milestones and challenges, the partnership between school and home is  paramount.

The parent involvement in our school is to be commended.  Research demonstrates that such parent involvement includes getting children to school every day on time, providing a time and space to complete homework, monitoring their progress and placing an emphasis on learning rather than perfect grades.

Throughout the year, the Mattlin Middle School PTA is a vital part of school functions and we cannot thank them enough for all the work they do for our school.

Looking forward to seeing all of our students in September!

Respectfully,

Dr. Joseph Coladonato
