Plainview-Old Bethpage Students Attend Long Island Best Buddies Friendship Ball
The Plainview-Old Bethpage Central
School District’s John F. Kennedy High School Best Buddies club recently attended
the annual Long Island Best Buddies Friendship Ball held at Levittown Hall. The
event was intended bring together several chapters of Best Buddies Clubs from
multiple schools throughout Long Island to celebrate inclusion and support
people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
More than 50 students from John F. Kennedy High School dressed up and danced at the prom-like event alongside students from schools throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties. This year’s Friendship Ball followed a “tropical paradise” theme, where students were dressed in leis and the room was decorated with flowers and palm trees.
Best Buddies is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Members of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central
School District’s John F. Kennedy High School Best Buddies club enjoy the Long
Island Best Buddies Friendship Ball. Students dressed up and danced throughout
the “tropical paradise” themed night.
