POBMS Assistant Principal Recognized as Administrator of the Year Dorothy Drexel Honored by School Administrators Association of New York PLAINVIEW, NEW YORK (April, 2025)—

Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School Assistant Principal Dorothy Drexel has been named the 2025 Administrator of the Year for Zone 2 (Nassau County) by the School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS). Since joining the District in 2016, Mrs. Drexel has been a driving force behind numerous initiatives that foster equity, inclusion, and student engagement. Her leadership of the Districtwide Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee has united students, staff, parents, and community members in meaningful dialogue and action. Recognized in the SAANYS Vanguard magazine, Drexel’s collaborative and intentional approach has set a model for culturally responsive education. In addition to her administrative responsibilities, Mrs. Drexel is known for her creative efforts to build community and school spirit.

This school year, she welcomed students back with a sunflower garden project that symbolized hope and renewal—a story that gained regional attention from News 12 Long Island.
