POBJFKHS sophomore earns gold at Long Island Math Fair

Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School sophomore Rishaan Sen earned a gold medal for his research and presentation at the Long Island Math Fair.

Rishaan’s project focused on Braess’ Paradox, a concept that examines how adding roads to a transportation network can sometimes increase congestion rather than improve traffic flow. Through his research, he analyzed network efficiency and explored how strategic changes to road systems can impact overall performance.

His findings offer practical insights that could help inform communities about when, where and how to make adjustments to existing transportation networks. The District is proud to support student achievement in mathematics and celebrates Rishaan’s outstanding accomplishment.
