Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School was honored by the New York State Public School Athletic Association as a 2025-26 School of Distinction, recognizing the academic accomplishments of its varsity student-athletes.

The designation is awarded to schools whose entire varsity athletic program demonstrates a strong commitment to academic success. To qualify, 100% of varsity teams must receive the NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete Team Award, which is earned when the average grade-point average among the top 75% of their roster reaches at least 90%.

For the 2025-26 school year, 118 schools across New York State received School of Distinction honors, including 37 high schools on Long Island. NYSPHSAA describes the designation as recognizing schools that have demonstrated an “exceptional commitment to academic achievement.”

The honor celebrates the accomplishments of Plainview-Old Bethpage student-athletes and the community that supports them. Their success in balancing varsity competition with their academic responsibilities reflects their dedication, as well as the encouragement and guidance of their teachers, coaches, administrators and families.
