Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)
 

At Plainview-Old Bethpage Schools, we are dedicated to ensuring every student receives the support they need through our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework. This framework provides varying levels of support:

• Tier 1: Quality instruction for all students.
• Tier 2: Targeted interventions for those needing extra help.
• Tier 3: Intensive, individualized support for students with significant needs.

MTSS is designed to help schools identify struggling students early and intervene quickly. It focuses on the “whole child.” That means it supports academic growth, but many other areas, too. These include behavior, social and emotional needs, and absenteeism (not attending school).

MTSS is a proactive and preventative framework that integrates data and instruction to maximize student achievement and support students' social, emotional, and behavior needs from a strength-based perspective. MTSS offers a framework for educators to engage in data-based decision making related to program improvement, high-quality instruction and intervention, social and emotional learning, and positive behavioral supports necessary to ensure positive outcomes for districts, schools, teachers, and students.

Our Data & Assessments Office is crucial in monitoring student progress and tailoring interventions. We use regular assessments and progress monitoring to make data-driven decisions that enhance student success.

Additionally, New York State Reporting is essential for tracking our students' performance on state assessments, such as the ELA and Mathematics tests. These reports guide our instructional practices and help us refine our support strategies.
