Pasadena Skypes with Stratford Road Students to Celebrate Dr. Seuss
On March 2, 2017, students from Pasadena and Stratford Road Skyped enjoyed a Skype visit with each other to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Fourth grade students from Mrs. DeRosa and Mrs. Steinberg's class Skyped with Stratford Road's kindergarten students. After researching information about Dr. Seuss during their Library class, they presented facts about the author, read aloud Ten Apples Up On Top
, and recited a Happy Birthday poem. Mrs. Buonomo's kindergarten students then enjoyed a Skype visit with fourth grade students from Stratford. They learned fun and interesting facts about Dr. Seuss, enjoyed a read aloud of The Sneetches
and listened to quotes from some of the author's class books.
POBMS Visits Pasadena
On March 11, 2016, students from POBMS visited Pasadena to read with 1st and 2nd grade classes. The middle school students read picture books and had students participate in fun Dr. Seuss related activities. A great time was had by all! Thank you to Mrs. Tellone and the middle school students for making this visit so wonderful!
World Read Aloud Day
On February 24, 2016, Pasadena celebrated World Read Aloud Day. Each grade enjoyed a Skype visit with the following authors:
1st and 2nd grade: Patricia J. Murphy
3rd grade: Nancy Viau
4th grade: David A. Kelly
Author Jeff Nathan Visits Pasadena
On January 8, 2016, author Jeff Nathan visited Pasadena to kick off PARP week. Jeff Nathan is a poet and is the author of There’s a Hippo in My Locker, Calling All Animals and There’s a Bear in My Shoe. Students enjoyed his interactive and inspiring presentations. During the week of December 7th, Pasadena participated in Computer Science Education Week. Students in all grades enjoyed learning how to code using the code.org website. To continue coding at home, click here to sign in.
Digital Citizenship Week
During the week of November 16th, the Plainview-Old Bethpage School District promoted Digital Citizenship Week. Students learned how to be safe and responsible while using the Internet. Each grade learned about the following topics:
1st grade: Your Digital Community
2nd grade: Powerful Passwords 3rd Grade: Going Places Safely
4th Grade: Screen Out the Mean
Diary of a Wimpy Kid Launch Party
On November 6th, 90 third and fourth grade students celebrated the release of Diary of a Wimpy Kid Old School, the newest book in Jeff Kinney's popular Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. Students were excited to receive their copies of the book and had a great time participating in a variety of Diary of a Wimpy Kid activities!
