Please, join me in congratulating and recognizing our esteemed alumni on their career accomplishments!
Our first Music and Performing Arts Alumni of the Month for September is:
Max Friedman is a graduate of POBJFKHS from the Class of 2014. During his time in the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District Max exemplified a young man with many diverse interests and passions. He was a dedicated choir and a cappella member during his time in the district, earning the honor of being an NYSSMA All-State Tenor in 2013. Additionally, he was a member of the theatre classes. You could also find Max as a varsity football player, where he excelled on another stage = the athletic field. Many of his teachers have shared that Max was a jovial student with a great sense of humor. During his Senior Year, he led the choir as a conductor during their Spring Concert. Currently, Max has found fame and success as a professional wrestler. After many years of wrestling on the independent professional circuit, he recently signed his first major contract with the brand new "All Elite Wrestling" or simply, "AEW" promotion which was founded by Shad and Tony Khan, owners of the NFL Franchise the Jacksonville Jaguars. Starting on Wednesday, Oct. 2nd, Max will be featurely weekly on the TNT network on AEW's flagship program, "AEW: Dynamite," where he will perform as "Maxwell Jacob Friedman", or just, "MJF": We are extremely proud of Max and his unique path in entertainment and into stardom!

Max's reflection on his time in the performing arts at POB:
"For me it was an opportunity to express myself, with no judgment and just be yourself. I sang in the chorus, theatre, and a cappella. I got to be "Stanley Kowalski" on the night of scenes, and he was a great character, and I was able to adapt things from that into my career. By studying actors I was able to understand characters better and focus on character development. That was the cool thing about this high school, I never felt I was judged. I was able to be an ally for other students, too, being involved in music and sports. I felt I learned a lot about sticking up for people when I came here. If you are interested in something, don't be afraid to do, you really only get to do high school once." - Max Friedman
Please join me in congratulating Max Friedman, Class of 2014!
